What is a Web Radio?
A Web Radio is a radio that broadcasts programs in digital form, using the network, thus being able to be used on PCs and tablets or smartphones. Simply download free apps to listen to live broadcasts and podcasts. The history of Web Radio develops in parallel with the growth of the Internet. Obviously the first Web Radio was born in the United States in the early 90s with Carl Malamud. Expert in new technologies and supporter of the "public domain", through the project "Internet Talk Radio", he creates this radio talk show accessible via the web by interviewing computer experts weekly. The broadcasts took place inside the studios of KRFC AM 1313, the San Francisco Bay radio station. The interviews were resumed the following day at archives.krfc.com, which no longer exists.
Digital Radio is the name chosen by marketing to launch the broadcasting of broadcasts made with the Eureka 147 standard, better known as Dab+. Dab (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is actually quite seasoned stuff: it's a European project that dates back to the 1980s. Almost 20 years ago, in 1995, Norway and the UK launched the first Dab digital radio channels. Evolution was born in 2007, the Dab+.
